Weird Meat — the taco company that never was
The making of a fictitious taco company that was never really about the tacos.

01 — The Pitch

Three guys. A fake taco company.
A very real problem.

Deadpan, mockumentary, gonzo front to back. Three friends launch a taco company built on the weirdest, most unexpected ingredients they can catch, hunt, or scavenge across Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. No script to hit — the journey is the story.

02 — The Twist

The tacos were never the point.

Every road on this trip leads to Isla Holbox, and to one man — a fishing guide named Sandflea, who just quietly became the greatest permit angler who has ever lived.

03 — The Record

513 stood for decades.
He's past it.

Del Brown's lifetime permit record has been the number every serious angler measured themselves against for forty years. By Sandflea's own count, he's broken it — and this film is there to verify it, on camera, with his logs and the people who fished it with him.

04 — The Heart

The man with the biggest heart needed a new one.

In 2015, Sandflea needed a third open-heart surgery. The fly-fishing world raised the money, got him to the Cleveland Clinic, and got him home. Ten years later, we're back — to watch him become the best to ever do it.

05 — The Cast

Who's in the boat.

SANDFLEA
The heart of the film.
JAY JOHNSON
Industry, but not corporate.
ROBBIE
The wildcard. Head of “R&D.”
RA BEATTIE

06 — Why This, Why Now

The sequel nobody's made yet.

Off the Grid already made one film about Sandflea — Corazón, a 2017 Fly Fishing Film Tour selection. Bajío already named a frame after him. This is the same story, picked back up ten years later, at the exact moment it finally pays off.
